- ABOUT LICHEN-
Jacquie & Glenn McLean
Upon our first visit, we fell instantly head over heels with Binalong Bay, partly due to its pristine environment and also its amazing produce which includes, abundant, diverse seafood, exceptional meats and passionate local producers that constantly surprise. Our philosophy at Lichen Restaurant is simple, complement the amazing views we provide of the Bay Of Fires with the best of fresh food Tasmania can provide, naturally complemented with our Island's cooler climate wines and also the mainland's classic regional wines as well.
If it's breakfast and great coffee you’re into or you just want to settle in for a long lunch on our deck and not only indulge your taste buds, but also be prepared for unexpected marine visitors that regularly pass through the Bay in clear view.
In the evening we like to take it up a notch and provide a finer dinning experience with a few extra options that include the best of Cape Grim steaks, the freshest local seafood and naturally for all the sweet tooths amongst you, classic desserts to finish with. Oh and did we mention the traditional wood fired pizzas on offer as well!?
Our head chef James Hutchison has a fresh and simplistic philosophy towards cooking that has been acquired from vast experience of diverse styles over many years.
Lichen Restaurant & Cafe does provide a unique experience for the foodies amongst you with possibly the best ocean backdrop one could ask for. If it's only a quick coffee hit with a freshly baked muffin or egg and bacon brioche slider you’re after or the freshest beer battered Blue Eye Trevella fish and chips or a juicy Eye Fillet or maybe it's the soufflée that gets you excited, its all here.
